About CORE Organic

CORE Organic is a transnational partnership where resources within research in organic food and farming are joined.
The aim is to enhance the quality, relevance and utilisation of resources in European research in organic food and farming through coordination and collaboration.
The project is initiated as a part of the European Commissions ERA-NET Scheme, which intends to step up cooperation between national research activities.

Current topics
CORE Organic funded research projects
As a result of the cooperation in the CORE Organic ERA-net, a pilot call for joint transnational research projects in organic food and farming was launched in late 2006.
Following a comprehensive evaluation procedure eight research projects were selected for joint, transnational, funding by means of a virtual, common pot approach.
From CORE Organic I to CORE Organic II

In 2007, the first CORE Organic ERA-NET succesfully ended. The final scientific report is available here (pdf) and gives details on the activities and achievements of the project. CORE Organic launched 8 pilot projects which are running until 2010. These projects have each their own webside, which can be found under "research."
After 2007, the partners of CORE Organic expanded their network and successfully developed a second ERA-NET, CORE Organic II, which will be a collaboration between 27 partners in 22 countries. The ERA-NET is expected to start in March 2010. Among its tasks, it will launch transnational calls for research projects on various themes of organic food and farming. Partners in CORE Organic II are from the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland , Turkey, United Kingdom.
Expert group for technical advice on organic production: Call for applications

The Commission will soon publish a call for applications with a view to appointing members of the expert group for technical advice on organic production and establishing the relevant pool list.
The text of the call and the relative application forms will be published in the Official Journal of the European union series C and will also be accessible from the European Commission Organic Farming website www.organic-farming.eu. In particular, the documents for the application will be accessible in PDF and WORD format in order to allow them to be downloaded, filled in and signed.
